Our client, a Fedreal Governmet Agency is looking for a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director to join their Stakeholder Engagement and Government Relations team. This is a crucial leadership role where you'll provide high-level coordination and advisory services, playing a key part in managing the agencies external relationships. You will directly support the agency Chair, Board, and CEO in their engagements with Ministers and senior industry stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Providing Strategic Advice: Offer high-level strategic advice to senior executives and the Board on stakeholder engagement and government relations initiatives. Your strong written communication skills will be essential for developing timely and accurate briefing materials

  • Managing Key Relationships: Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Ministers, government officials, market bodies, and industry and consumer advocates

  • Driving Engagement: Take a lead role in developing and implementing strategic engagement plans and providing expert advice on engagement activities

  • Leading with Agility: Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, managing competing priorities and multiple tasks with ease. Your ability to quickly analyze information and make timely, effective decisions will be key to your success

  • Collaborating and Communicating: Serve as a central point of contact, liaising with internal teams across the agency and external partners to ensure seamless communication and coordination

Experience Required:

  • Stakeholder engagement and government relations, ideally within a Federal or State Government context
  • Providing strategic advice and managing government relations initiatives for senior leaders

  • Developing and coordinating time-sensitive briefings and other key communications

  • Building and maintaining senior executive relationships with a broad range of stakeholders

  • Working effectively in a high-pressure environment, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing demands

  • Contributing to the development of communications or engagement plans


You should be a personable and collaborative leader who can build rapport quickly and work well with both internal and external stakeholders.
